Le Palais Garnier opera house looks like a wedding cake
The Garnier is primarily used for ballet and dance.
Most of the operas in Paris are performed at the new and modern Opera Bastille
Sink into the richness of the velvet interior
A colorful contrast to the red and gold opulence
It would be so much fun if you could join me?
Just one problem.
What to wear??
Either of these gowns will work don’t you think?
Put a Little Ooh La La in Your Life!

Hi Mimi, how are you today? Hope all is well!
These photos are absolutely gorgeous, I am ready to back my bags and my fancy dress and gloves and head to the Paris for a night at the ballet with you! The ceiling is amazing and the rich red velvets are stunning. What a beautiful post, I love everything about it. Definitely has the Oooh la la factor! :)
We got to see just the lobby of the Garnier ~ I would have loved to see more we only peeked inside. Such a gorgeous building. Is that the Opera House The Phantom of the Opera is supposed to be based out of? (Love that show)! xo
Bonsoir ma chére Mimi,Opera Garnier est trés belle et unique!!!
Bonne nuit et doux rêves
Bisous Fleurette
I do think one of those gowns would work to the opera! Especially the lace hand-held fan. Very pretty! I imagine we'll have a splendid time!
Hi Mimi....oh how I LOVE that post! When I left school I wanted to design period costume for the theatre n opera etc...long story to why I didn't!
I still love everything around the theatre.
Hugs Karen x x x

Bonjour Mimi- I have been to this opera house and remember how absolutely stunning it is- your pictures are gorgeous... thank you for reminding me!
I am sorry I have not visited as much as I'd like to... just taking a lot of time off and resting during my pregnancy. Hope you're well! xo
I love opera houses and theaters like these. It's like being inside a work of art. Plus, going there is a great excuse to dress up in the most extravagant looks!
Ohhhh, I am there with you, Mimi dearest! I will take the pink gown, s'il vous plaît!!! Lovely escape my dear into a world only for those who want to dream....Anita
Yes, count me in. It would be an amazing experience :-)
Oh, how I loved the tour of the opera! It is magnificent! I wish we could have fit an evening at the ballet into our schedule. A funny thing, photos of the Garnier are flashing across our digital frame as I type this. When I think of the Garnier, I picture Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face.
xoxo, B
Gorgeous! I would love to visit there. What a beautiful post! Hugs Anne
A night dressed to the nines would be the perfect way to celebrate the something I have for you over at Le Petit Village. Swing by and pick it up xoxo

Hi Mimi,
Years ago I saw in his scene an honoring to Diaghilev absolutely wonderful. It's magic place for me.
Hugs,
Cecilia
My dearest Mimi,
I hope all is well ! The last days were quite stressfull and so I missed all your posts. Some years ago I had the chance to visit your beautiful opera and was overwhelmed by the colourfull ceiling from Chagall. Though it was a scandal then that he painted such modern paintings on the classic ceiling.
Therefor you don´t have to worry what to wear, you can choose classic dresses or modern, would match perfectly either way :-)
Thank you for the journey through lovely Paris and have a wonderful week with sun and love !

You know they should do that...have a night of opera where the guests are asked to dress appropriate to a historical (opulent) time of the Opera Garnier. How very ooh-la-la that would be. I have been blessed to see the opera Carmen (1993) in this gorgeous setting and having read the Phantom of the Opera, and some of the history of the Opera Garnier, I ohhed and ahhed over every detail and even enjoyed the opera itself, yet my attire.....dear me...it was on Bastille Day and there I was a typical American college student in bermudas, and a polo shirt...a bit too shabby now in hindsight.
Oh yes, both of these gowns are absolutely fine in this beautiful environment. This must have been a lovely evening indeed!
I would love a night out at the Opera, with an ermine, opera glasses and some sort of low cut dress-

I tried earlier to leave a comment but was having problems with blogger. Let's try again. Bonjour, Good Morning. I have a little treat for you on my blog today. Please stop by. Thanks.
Hello, dear Mimi, thank you for the peek inside this fabulous Opera House. Just breathtaking, and yes, may I borrow one of your gowns? Mine are all at the cleaners! Have a lovely week,

Sooo beautiful, I can just imagine spending the evening there in a beautiful gown by...Chanel, no, Elie Saab, no, er, Dior... Givenchy... Never mind, I could just look at that stunning ceiling all day though. Thanks for sharing, Love from London x
Thanks for taking us along on this beautiful journey! What a beautiful building. And both of those gowns would look stunning for a night at the opera!
Kate
Paris, the city of my heart. Yet I have never been. Thanks for the tour. More, please.
Dear Mimi,
I'll go for the silk pink gown and follow you to the opera. What wouldn't I give to spend night with you in dear old paris, be that ballet of the opera, I'm sure I't be one of the best night in my life.
only thing I've forgotten about is the shoes. got to buy charming new ones that will match with that superb gown I'll wear. I'll go tomorrow, first thing in the morning.
Bisous et bonne nuit!

Bonjour MIMI,
Thanks for sharing the Palais Garnier. You are right it does look like a wedding cake LOL. The architecture is stunning! It would it be nice to be able to go back in time and get all dressed up in a beautiful gown. A real "conte de fée"! Merci for sharing.
Anne-Marie
Mimi, if you could only imagine how much I love Opera! The idea of magical Opera evening always unites for me Fashion and Art. I love dressing up for Opera and if I could, I would go to every single performance. :-))) Thank you for the wonderful post and beautiful pictures. I am wishing you beautiful day full of joy and inspiration.:-)
Dear Mimi,
Le Palais Garnier is the most stunnng building and the perfect venue for ballet and opera. We went to the ballet a few months ago and it reminded me to go more often, It was just beautiful. Unfortunately, lots of people don't dress up much anymore....I do though !!!!
Have a lovely day, Mimi. XXXX
What a lovely invitation Mimi I love this area of Paris and it always reminds me of the film Interview with the Vampire - a night with Brad and Tom at the Opera would be great :-) Hope you are really well - I will look forward to catching up with some of your earlier posts xxx
Mimi,
The opera house is absolutely beautiful. We have an old early 1900s theater that has been preserved, and is such a magnificent, stately, ornate landmark. I know it's not on the same scale as this one, but all of the old theaters/opera houses have such grand style. Thanks for sharing.
Rita
It was just last night that I learned some french words and phrases.
Beautiful pictures of the opera! I love the painting of the women those are my favorite types of paintings. Have a great weekend Jonny
What a fabulous opera house Mimi. I'm not a great opera fan, but I would go just to be in this gorgeous building.
Sam
Such beautiful elegance! I would love to put on a gown like those...and of course with the fan.

Dearest Mimi,
A night at the opera with you sounds magnificent! The incredible ceiling by Chagall you have shown us here just took my breath away, what a beautiful, stunning place. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend, and I will have to eat a hamburger or something for you now that I'm back here in the States, since I'm sure you are suffering with all of that divine French food.... ;)
Will write you back soon!
xoxo

Bonjour Dearest Mimi,
I would love the white gown definitely! Your photos are an operetta for the eyes (minus the music of course), sheer beauty!

Someday I'm going to treat myself to an "dreams come true" evening there. Just taking the daytime tour is blissful enough, but to attend an event there--heavenly...
Debi
Of course, I'll join you! What could be more exciting than dressing up in those dresses (I'll take the pink one) and go to the opera! Would love that!
