Bonne Année! - Happy New Year!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
Have you had a chance to rest after all that celebrating?

It is hard to believe the New Year is nearly upon us.
2009 zipped by like lighning.

I'm working on new projects I hope to
share with all of you soon.
Before 2010 arrives there is still so much to do.

Thank you notes  need to be written
for all those wonderful cadeaux!

Still need to decide on the perfect dress for New Year's Eve...
perhaps Tish over at  A Femme d'Une Certain Age
has some ideas pour moi.

This one with the red roses is rather nice...
Okay, now I'm getting excited

Just a little taste before we're off to the party...

 Then make time for a
romantic walk along the River Seine

 And through charming cobblestone streets

Now this is my idea of a soirée...
I think I was born in the wrong century.

May your new year be a bowl (basket) full of cherries...
and lots of Ooh La La!

How do you plan to ring in the New Year?

Wishing you a fabulous 2010!

Christmas Wishes

Only 6 more days.

We generally like to celebrate on Christmas Eve
and continue on through Christmas Day.

I tend to get a bit sentimental during the holidays.
I begin to worry that perhaps I have not done all I could for
 those most precious to me.

Will they be happy with their gifts?

Is it the right size?

 Will they enjoy the dinner?

the decorations?

the lights?

is it enough...?

So much to see and do...Whew!

Time to relax

and enjoy!

I do adore giving and receiving lovely gifts,
and I will happily continue that tradition.

But what I most wish for is to be with those I love so dearly,
in the sweet glow of  a peaceful home!

As the song goes, "diamonds are a girl's best friend"
but it cannot compare to the excitement I feel
when my honey reaches over and takes my hand in his!

To be content and  happy...
is to know  you have made those you love
content and happy.

This is my Christmas wish for all my dear blogger friends
this year and every year!

Merry Christmas!

White Christmas

Woke up today to a blanket of snow...Brrrrr!

A few pretty shots from our window.

My wonderful blog friends from Australia are celebrating a warm Christmas,
but many of you have been showing us images of your winter wonderland

Has it snowed where you live?

A Few of My Favorite Things

In the wonderful classic movie, The Sound of Music,
one of the best known songs was
' A Few of My Favorite Things'.

 Do you remember the words?
(I think I do)

'Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens,
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens.
Brown paper packages tied up with strings,
these are a few of my favorite things.'

Merci Jacqueline of Home.blogspot for help with the words!

Well,  here are a few of my favorite things
this holiday season!

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate

Printemps Christmas windows

Decorative elements

Cathedrale de Notre Dame

Macarons - any flavour is fine!

Fleurs

Romantic courtyards

Saving the best for last,
the Real Meaning of Christmas!

What are some of your favorite things?

More Parisien Christmas Cheer

Avenue des Champs Elysées
I met my honey on this avenue...(it was Springtime!)

The boutiques in Paris are dressed in finery
and offering up lots of pretty things

I have a soft spot for all the marvelous flower shoppes

Wonderful white fleurs

Unusual lobster theme...?  @ Frank 'n Fills
(Sorry for the glare)

 Shiny silver from Christofle

Chocolate treats from Hediard

Darling little children's boutique -
notice the mini red Vespa on the left

Perhaps this rocking horse is heading
to a special tree nearby

More sweet smelling Christmas cheer

And last but certainly not least...
the lovely Kori at  Blonde Episodes  has been so gracious
to present me with yet another glamorous award of her own design!
She is one creative lady.

Merci Kori!

Christmas Cheer

A fabulous weekend shopping, eating and
admiring Christmas decorations around Paris.

The carousel at the foot of the Trocadero and
overlooking the Eiffel Tower...my honey
was getting nervous as we passed by because I love to ride.
 I think it is romantic
It is definitely not his favorite thing to do, but he is sweet and patient with me,
so I let him off the hook.
Also, I couldn't bring myself to take the place of the adorable children waiting for a ride

Pardon moi for the shaky images - it was cold and rainy on Saturday night, and I just could not keep the camera steady!

Despite the rain and slick streets, the Avenue des Champs Elysées was crowded.

Window display of fine teas

Hediard, a gourmet's Heaven decked out in all its finery.

I'll be posting more boutique decorations this week.
