Snowy Paris

Paris had quite a surprise snowfall last Wednesday.
Airports closed, highways in grid-lock, unexpected ice skating skills....uh hmmm...

Thankfully, we were still able to get out and about -
one of the perks of living in the city.

The 'market street' (as I call it) right around the corner was a bit empty,
but the (slushy) snow still managed to glisten under the sheet of lights and garlands.

This little stretch offers everything you need - boulangerie, cafés, fromagier, caviar shop, gourmet coffee and tea shop and even....brace yourself...a Mc Donald's...sad but true.
France has whole heartedly embraced the Golden Arches - at least it is tucked into the building like the rest of the shops.
Sorry no photos, I just could not bring myself to do it.

Did I mention Starbucks?
They're really crazy about those Frapuccinos!

My favorite créperie

Notice the powdery snow (major slippery white stuff)...no photo of me nearly getting run over by a car on the way home either...thankfully my Mocha Frapuccino and I made it home safely!  The Good Lord was looking after me that day!!

I am so glad that you're okay. I almost got taken out in NYC by a bus. My sister saved my life! BE CAREFUL.
I wish I could walk around the corner to Market Street. It looks like a magical place.

Paris in the snow--how can it get any prettier? I would love to see that some day. London has been mighty cold too--makes me wonder what January and February have in store....

One of our friends had a week long business trip to Paris last week, and the sweetheart sent me snow pictures from his blackberry...I enjoyed each and every one of them!

I finally finished this month's magazine. I savored each and every page, so it took me quite awhile. I love how it gives a glimpse into people's private lives and homes...fantastic!

Hi Mimi,
These are beautiful photos. The little street looks enchanting. I, for one, am glad you declined to shoot photos of the McDonald's. :) Somehow I find the thought of Paris embracing McDonald's rather disappointing. LOL Hope all is going well with Belle. Merry Christmas!

Hi Mimi, so you got some of that white stuff for Christmas. Makes things real Christmasy doesn't it? We are getting it too. I love it as long as I don't have to travel which I do. A Market Place sounds so much classier than "the mall". :) Just wanted to drop by and wish you a very very Merry Christmas to you and yours. xoxo Lynn
P.S. working on an article. :)

Hi Mimi!

I love this post! I just adore hearing about your experiences in another amazing European city as an American like myself...I just love how we can relate to each other! I love this snippet of time in which I can taste a little bit of what you experience in your more permanent life :) although I know Rome and Paris are quite different from each other. I really can't even fathom how incredible it must feel to live in Paris, especially during the holidays. These photos are gorgeous, and how funny what you said about McDonalds! That is something else I can completely relate to. I know there are 2 in Rome and it is quite sad! I assume fromagier is a cheese shop? We just visited our local cheese shop today for some delectable cheese to pair with polenta for the evening.

Wishing you a spectacular holiday week and very Merry Merry Christmas!! God bless. :)
