Musée Marmottan Monet

The Musée Marmottan Monet is one of my favorite museums in Paris.
It is a little off the beaten path from many of the more well known museums,
but it should definitely not be missed.
Located in the quiet residential area of the 16th,  the former hunting lodge is the
perfect setting for the world renowned artwork

The specially constructed Monet Salon is spectacular

A lovely painting by Berthe Morisot, a contemporary of Monet

A marvelous place to while away some time...

This is my favorite Impressionist museum as well. It's so carefully curated, and every piece is worthwhile. The collection is a nice size, and not so huge as to be overwhelming. I really enjoyed seeing the Berthe Morisot works and learning more about her life.

I had no idea that was even there. I just might have to try to return to Paris just for this experience. (O:

I love knowing about these little museums off the beaten path. What a lovely painting of Berthe Morisot. It's interesting that the French Impressionists painted each other and some did their own portraits as well.

Musée Marmottan Monet is one of my favorite places too. I visited on 22 April 2011 and took a friend and after 45 minutes headed to the underground room to see the Monet water lilies. They are all gone! They have an exposition of a modern French artist in that space. There are three or four classic Mone's on the first floor/ It's Musee Marmottan sans Monet
