Padlocks of Love!

The Pont des Arts has become a popular place for couples in love
to hang a padlock on the fence.
Found another bridge next to the Cathedrale de Notre Dame that was also loaded with these sweet tokens of love.

The locks are engraved or handwritten with all the details.

Many are tied up with a ribbon or fabric

Love is the universal language.

Put a Little Ooh La La in Your Life!

What a sweet idea. I've never heard of this before.

It looks picturesque. Is it true that the loving couple throw the key in the Seine?

When you realize that the city had these all removed about a year ago from at least Pont des Arts, it is amazing the number appearing here at Pont de l'Archevêché. I imagine there are enough keys in the Seine to cover the bottom!

Your photos give a great perspective on the volume of these locks and the creativity of those leaving them. Wonderful post!

Mimi,

These photos are so beautiful, makes me wish that we had gotten closer. But I'm already preparing a lock for Peter and I to add on our next trip. Can't wait to see you!

Paris has so many ways of showing love, this is a little different from what I've seen there. Interesting.

Oh...how i wish i had known you were going there. I would've had you check for the lock Scott and I put there last September. I blogged about it Nov. 10 of last year. If you ever pass that way again, ours was one of the only combination locks, and it was bright red! I remember we were next to a silver one that said Pam and Tony.

It was quite romantic...I loved doing it!
